From The Archives : BTS SUGA Live in Seoul 2023 (SUGA Agust D D-DAY Tour): Concert Review & Photos

@

My first time seeing a BTS member live: SUGA's Agust D D-DAY Tour in Seoul, a Weverse raffle VIP win, and an unforgettable ARMY weekend.

I think this will always be one of those concerts that feels a little unreal whenever I look back at it. Why? Only because this was my first time seeing a BTS member live since getting into the fandom.

And of course, it had to be SUGA. Or should I say Agust D. My bias wrecker. 😂

I didn't just get a ticket. I won a VIP ticket through the Weverse raffle, which meant I got to see the show from the VIP section. All the photos in this post were taken on my phone, but considering where I was seated, they actually turned out pretty damn good.

About the show

SUGA's D-DAY tour was his first solo world tour, and the Seoul concerts on June 24 and 25 served as the kick off of the tour. The two-day Seoul run took place at Jamsil Indoor Stadium, with around 15,000 fans attending across both days.

The concert itself was built around the three chapters of his solo music: Agust D, D-2, and D-DAY. It was basically a chance to see the three different sides of Min Yoongi come together on one stage—SUGA, Agust D, and just Yoongi. The official Weverse Magazine described the show as a representation of his journey through those three releases and a particularly honest performance.

For me, though, there was another layer to it. This was my first BTS-member concert.

I've been an ARMY for a while, and I'd obviously watched countless BTS performances online, but there's something completely different about actually being inside a venue with thousands of other ARMYs waiting for one of the members to walk on stage.

And somehow, I ended up getting to experience that from VIP.

Getting to Jamsil Indoor Stadium

Jamsil Indoor Stadium is located within Seoul Olympic Park's larger Jamsil sports complex in Songpa-gu, Seoul. (Naver Map)

The easiest way to get there by public transportation is via the Seoul Subway. Sports Complex Station (종합운동장역) on Lines 2 and 9 is one of the most convenient stations for the Jamsil sports complex. From there, it's a walk toward the stadium area.

If you're visiting Seoul for a concert, I'd recommend using Naver Map or KakaoMap rather than relying solely on Google Maps, especially when navigating the smaller pedestrian routes around large venues.

And if you're going for a major K-pop concert, give yourself plenty of time. The area around the venue can get extremely busy, particularly before and after the show.

The Setlist

The show moved through SUGA's entire Agust D trilogy, starting with the aggressive opening of Haegeum, Daechwita, Agust D, and Give It to Me, before gradually moving into the more reflective parts of the set.

Haegeum

Give It to Me
Trivia: Seesaw
SDL

The Seoul setlist was particularly special because it brought together songs from all three of SUGA's solo releases, while also weaving in BTS songs and performances that connected his solo identity back to the group.

Concert Highlights

My first BTS-member concert

This is probably the most obvious thing to say, but seeing SUGA (or any BTS member, to be honest) live for the first time was a big deal for me.

Since getting into BTS, I've watched so many performances, concerts, award shows, livestreams, behind-the-scenes videos... basically the usual ARMY things. 😂

But nothing really prepares you for the moment the person you've only ever seen through a screen suddenly appears on an actual stage in front of you.

And this wasn't just any BTS member. It was SUGA. My bias wrecker.
So yes, I was probably a little too excited.

And then I won VIP?!

The fact that I was there in VIP because I won the Weverse raffle still makes this whole experience even crazier to me. I didn't have some elaborate plan to secure an insanely close seat. I literally got lucky.

And because of that, the photos in this post were all taken using just my phone. No professional camera. No fancy telephoto lens. Just me, my phone, and a VIP ticket.

And honestly? Just look at the photos...

For phone photos from a concert venue, I will happily take the win. 😂

Being closer to the stage also meant being able to appreciate all the little details of the performance—the lighting, the live band, the dancers, and especially SUGA moving between different instruments.

The concert wasn't just a rap performance. He played guitar and piano during the show, and the production moved between the harder Agust D moments and the much more vulnerable parts of his music.

From Agust D to Min Yoongi

One of the things I really liked about the concert was how it moved between his different identities.

The beginning was pure Agust D energy—Haegeum, Daechwita, Agust D, Give It to Me. It was loud, intense, and basically the perfect way to start. Then the mood shifted.

Songs like Seesaw, SDL, People, and People Pt. 2 brought out a softer side, while Life Goes On gave everyone a moment to breathe.

And then there was AMYGDALA.

That part of the concert felt particularly heavy and personal, especially considering the themes surrounding the song and the story behind the D-DAY album. The entire show was designed as a journey through his past, struggles, and eventual sense of moving forward.

The Surprise Guest: PSY

And then came the surprise we definitely weren't expecting—PSY! 😂

SUGA brought out PSY for a live performance of That That, and the entire place absolutely lost it. I lost it!!

Hearing the song live was already exciting, but seeing the two of them perform it together on stage was such a fun moment. It was one of those unexpected concert surprises that made the Seoul show even more memorable.

The ARMY experience

There's also something about experiencing a BTS-related concert in Seoul that hits differently.

You're surrounded by ARMYs from different places, everyone carrying their Army Bombs, singing along to songs in Korean, and somehow everyone knows exactly what is happening even when nobody is talking.

The energy was just insane.

And because this was my first time seeing a BTS member live, I was taking everything in—the lights, the fan chants, the stage, the VCRs, the band, and just the fact that I was actually there.

Not just there. But right there, in the VIP section, that close to my bias-wrecker!

Concert Photos

I didn't bring my proper camera for this one. These were all taken with my phone, which makes me laugh a little considering how much concert photography I've done over the years.

But being in VIP definitely helped!!!

The photos capture SUGA in different parts of the show—from the darker, more dramatic Agust D moments to the blue-and-red lighting in the later sections.

They're not perfect, and they're definitely not meant to be a professional concert gallery. They're more like little screenshots of a very specific memory: me, in Seoul, watching SUGA perform live for the first time.

Below are a few more shots from my camera. Enjoy~

A Few Notes...

If I had to pick one concert experience that really felt like an "I can't believe this actually happened" moment, this would probably be somewhere near the top. My first BTS-member concert. In Seoul.

It was my first ever trip to South Korea, too! (Thank you to my husband for accompanying me, and then encouraging me to travel again and again back to South Korea by myself LOL). All for SUGA. And somehow, in VIP!!!

I think that's what makes the photos even more special to me. They're just phone photos, but whenever I look at them, I remember exactly how surreal it felt to actually be there.

And then there was Day 2.

We didn't have tickets for the second show, so instead of going inside, we decided to hang around outside the venue and just soak in the whole concert atmosphere. And somehow, we got lucky because we saw Jimin!

We were able to see him as his van was exiting, and what I remember most wasn't even just the fact that OMG THAT'S JIMIN—it was how nice he was. He didn't have to, but he lowered his window and waved to everyone outside before leaving.

So technically, I didn't see Jimin perform that weekend.

So sorry for screaming so loud; I was just overwhelmed and excited!

But I saw Jimin. And he waved TO US. Right in front of us, and I'll take it. 😂

Looking back, the whole weekend feels like one giant ARMY fever dream. I went to Seoul, got ridiculously lucky with a VIP raffle, saw SUGA—my bias wrecker—live for the first time, and then somehow ended up seeing Jimin outside the venue the following day.

Not bad for my first BTS-member concert experience.

Actually... not bad at all.
