Brown Hands Baekje (브라운핸즈백제), Busan: A Vintage Cafe Near Busan Station

@

Discover Brown Hands Baekje, a vintage cafe near Busan Station housed in a historic former hospital. See its cozy interiors, coffee, and colorful seating, plus how to get there.

A coffee stop in Busan doesn't have to be just about the coffee. Sometimes, the place itself is what makes the experience memorable.

During one of my trips to Busan, I visited Brown Hands Baekje, a cafe near Busan Station that's housed in a former hospital building. With its weathered walls, colorful furniture, warm lighting, and vintage interiors, it's quite different from the usual modern cafes you see around the city.

I love discovering cafes that have a little character, and this one definitely has that old-meets-new charm. If you're planning a Busan trip and have some time before or after taking the KTX, this is one cafe worth adding to your itinerary.

Brown Hands Baekje Cafe (브라운핸즈백제)

What makes Brown Hands Baekje interesting is that it isn't just another cafe with vintage-inspired decor. The building itself has a history.

It occupies the former Baekje Hospital, which opened in 1922 as one of Busan's first modern hospitals. Over the years, the building served different purposes before being transformed into a cafe, preserving much of its old architectural character.

And you can definitely see that character in the photos.

The aged brickwork, worn walls, exposed surfaces, and old staircase give the space a distinctly different atmosphere from the sleek, minimalist cafes that are popular in Seoul.

I especially like places where the old structure is allowed to speak for itself rather than being completely renovated into something unrecognizable.

Coffee, Cozy Corners, and Colorful Interiors

Of course, no cafe visit is complete without coffee.

The cafe serves espresso-based drinks, including Americano and espresso, alongside other beverages and desserts.

If it's your first visit, an Americano is a straightforward choice, especially if you're planning to continue exploring Busan afterward. Iced Americano is a popular drink among Koreans, especially during Summer.

The colorful seating and vintage atmosphere

One thing that caught my eye was the mix of colorful chairs against the aged walls.

The red, yellow, and bright-colored seats bring a playful touch to the otherwise rustic interiors. I like how the cafe balances the old building with modern furniture without making the space feel too polished or overly designed.

This corner is another example of that mix of old and new.

The natural light coming through the windows adds warmth to the space, and the furniture gives it a relaxed, casual feel. It's the kind of cafe where you can sit down for a coffee break before heading out to explore more of the city.

The wider interior shows just how much character the space has.

Instead of having one uniform design throughout, the cafe has different seating areas, with a combination of colorful chairs, wooden tables, and old architectural details.

Even the counter area fits the overall look, with its mix of old walls, modern coffee equipment, and warm lighting.

I think that's what makes Brown Hands Baekje stand out. It doesn't feel like a themed cafe trying to recreate the past. The history is already part of the building.

And here's one last look at the staircase and the worn walls.

The building's imperfections are part of its charm, and I found these details just as interesting as the coffee and seating areas.

My Take

Brown Hands Baekje is one of those cafes that makes a simple coffee stop feel like part of the travel experience.

I loved the combination of historic architecture, warm interiors, colorful furniture, and coffee. And because it's so close to Busan Station, it's an easy addition to a Busan itinerary without having to travel far out of your way.

If you're exploring Busan and happen to be near the station, consider stopping by for a coffee and a little vintage cafe hopping.

Sometimes, the most memorable travel stops are the ones that aren't part of a packed itinerary.
