A business trip, a comfortable hotel stay, and a few little moments of downtime in Yiwu.
Work trips have a different kind of travel experience. Unlike my usual leisure trips, where I get to plan my days around exploring, taking photos, and finding places to eat, business travel comes with a schedule of its own.
A few years ago, I had the opportunity to travel to Yiwu, China, for work, and we stayed at Yiwu Marriott Hotel. While the main purpose of the trip was business, I still managed to appreciate the little things about the stay, especially having a comfortable room to come back to after a long day.
Looking back at these photos, I remember the elegant interiors, the bathtub that immediately caught my attention, the city views, and those little pockets of downtime in between a busy work schedule.
I'm sharing some snapshots from that trip for anyone planning a visit to Yiwu, whether for business, shopping, or simply exploring another city in China.

Our Stay at Yiwu Marriott Hotel
One of the things I appreciate about business travel is having a comfortable hotel to return to after a full day of work.
We stayed at Yiwu Marriott Hotel, located in the Futian area of Yiwu. The hotel is in the city's central business district, close to Yiwu International Trade City, which is one of the city's major commercial and wholesale shopping destinations.

The hotel has a polished, contemporary feel, with warm lighting, dark finishes, and elegant interiors. Even in the photos, you can see how the design leans toward a more sophisticated business-hotel aesthetic.
I especially love the contrast between the darker wood and the warm golden lighting. It gives the room and interiors a cozy, almost cinematic feel.
And honestly, after spending most of the day working, having a room where you can unwind, take a long bath, and just enjoy some quiet time makes a difference.
The Room, the Bathtub, and a Little Me-Time
If there's one thing that stands out from this collection of photos, it's definitely the bathtub.
I'm always drawn to hotel bathrooms that have a proper soaking tub, especially when the bathroom has that spacious, elegant setup. It's such a nice little luxury to have when you're traveling for work.
The bathtub, the marble finishes, the warm lighting, and the overall layout made the bathroom one of my favorite parts of the room.
There's also something about staying in a hotel that makes even the simplest things feel like a treat. A nice bath, a comfortable bed, and a little time to yourself after a busy day can make a work trip feel less like work for a moment.
I also took a few photos of the room itself, including the bed and the views from the windows. These are the kinds of little details I like documenting when I travel, because they're part of the experience too.
Not every travel memory has to be about a tourist attraction or a famous landmark. Sometimes, it's just about the place you stayed and how it felt to be there.
Hotel Interiors and Little Details
I also took photos of some of the hotel's interiors, from the statement lighting to the decorative details and the different spaces around the property.
I tend to notice these things when I stay in hotels. The lighting, the furniture, the finishes, and even the way a space is put together can really influence how I remember a place.
The chandelier and darker interior details in these photos have that understated luxury feel. They're not necessarily the kind of things you'd travel to Yiwu specifically to see, but they're part of what made the hotel stay memorable for me.
There are also a few snapshots of the dining and common areas. Since this was a work trip, these are just little glimpses of the hotel rather than a full dining or facilities review.

A Glimpse of Yiwu Through the Windows
I love hotel rooms with a view, especially when they offer a glimpse of the city beyond the room.
These photos capture a few different sides of Yiwu, from the daytime view through the windows to the illuminated buildings at night.
The nighttime photos are particularly nice, with the surrounding buildings lighting up against the dark sky. It's a different perspective from the usual travel photos you see of China, and a reminder that there's a whole city outside the hotel waiting to be explored.
Yiwu is widely known for its International Trade City and its role as a major wholesale and trading destination. The Marriott's location in the Futian business district places it near that commercial area, making it a practical base for travelers visiting for business or shopping.

Yiwu Marriott Hotel

Located in Yiwu's Futian business district, near the International Trade City.

The hotel lists the airport at approximately 13 km from the property. The hotel does not provide a complimentary airport shuttle, but it lists private transportation options by advance reservation. A taxi or prearranged car is another option to check for your arrival. - From Yiwu Railway Station
The hotel is also accessible from Yiwu Railway Station. The hotel's own information gives an approximate driving time of 20 minutes, although actual travel time will depend on traffic. - From Hangzhou or Shanghai
If you're arriving from a larger city, check high-speed rail connections to Yiwu and then arrange a taxi or car to the hotel. Train schedules and journey times vary by departure station and service, so confirm your route before booking.

A FEW TIPS FOR YOUR YIWU TRIP
1. Check your hotel location against your work or shopping itinerary
Yiwu is a major commercial city, and the location of your hotel can make a difference if you're visiting wholesale markets or attending business meetings. Yiwu Marriott is in the Futian area, close to the International Trade City.
2. Save your hotel address offline
Keep the Chinese hotel address, booking confirmation, and hotel contact details accessible on your phone. This is especially helpful when navigating a new city.
3. Plan airport and railway transfers ahead
Confirm your arrival station, transfer arrangements, and current transport options before departure. The hotel lists private car service by reservation, so contact the property directly if you'd like to arrange it.
4. Leave room for some downtime
If you're combining business with travel, don't underestimate the value of a comfortable hotel. I certainly appreciated having some time to unwind in the room after a full day.

My Take
Looking back, this trip to Yiwu was a reminder that even when traveling for work, there are still little moments worth documenting.
The hotel, the room, the bathtub, the warm interiors, and the city views were all part of the experience. And while I didn't get to explore Yiwu as much as I would have on a leisure trip, I'm glad I kept these photos.
I think that's one of the things I enjoy about traveling in general. Whether it's a concert trip, a holiday, or a work assignment, there's always something to remember beyond the main reason for being there.
And of course, a comfortable hotel stay is always a welcome bonus.
