The Calling Live in Manila 2026 (Before The World Turns To Dust World Tour): Concert Review & Photos

@

Growing up, there are just some songs that never really leave you.

For me, “Wherever You Will Go” is one of those songs. It was everywhere in the early 2000s, on the radio, on burned CDs, on random playlists, and probably playing somewhere during those late-night emo sessions we all had back then.

So seeing The Calling live in Manila felt a little surreal. It was basically stepping into a time capsule, except this time I was actually in the crowd watching Alex Band perform those songs live.

And yes, that voice is still very much there.

About the show

There are some bands where you don't necessarily need a brand-new album or a complicated concert concept to make the show work. Just play the songs everyone came for, and that's pretty much what The Calling did in Manila.

The set leaned heavily into the songs that fans have known for years, including tracks from their debut album Camino Palmero. There were also a few covers thrown into the mix, an acoustic portion in the middle of the show, and, of course, “Wherever You Will Go.”

For me, the fun part was realizing how much of the set I actually remembered. Some songs I hadn't heard in years and somehow still knew every word.

That's probably the weird thing about music from your teenage years. You can forget what you had for lunch yesterday, but somehow your brain still knows the lyrics to a song you haven't played since 2004.

The Setlist

The Calling kept the set pretty straightforward, moving between their bigger songs, deeper cuts, covers, and an acoustic portion.

Concert Highlights

It's always interesting hearing an artist take on a song that's so strongly associated with another band, especially when it's a song you already know really well. Then came a little snippet of “Wherever You Will Go.” A snippet. Just enough to remind everyone what we were waiting for.

And then the band came back.

“Why Don't You & I”
The Santana cover “Why Don't You & I” was another fun addition to the set. It wasn't what I would have expected from a The Calling concert, but it fit nicely with the overall throwback feel of the night.

“Our Lives”
By the time we got to “Our Lives,” the crowd was already fully into it. This was one of those songs that reminded me that The Calling had more to offer than just that one massive hit.

It's easy for a band to become defined by one song, especially when that song became such a huge part of pop culture but hearing the rest of the set live made me appreciate their catalogue again.

“Wherever You Will Go”
Obviously, this was the moment. When the opening notes of “Wherever You Will Go” finally came, everyone knew. This is one of those songs that you don't even need to introduce.

The crowd just starts singing. And hearing Alex Band sing it live, with that familiar rasp in his voice, was probably the biggest nostalgia hit of the entire night. There was something oddly comforting about hearing a song that I hadn't thought about in years and suddenly realizing that I still knew every single word.

Sharing a few photos from The Calling Live in Manila 2026.

Leaving the venue, my ears were ringing and my voice was completely gone, but walking out into the Manila night air with that kind of post-concert high reminded me why live music is so special. Some songs never really grow old—they just wait for the right night to hit you all over again.

A Few Notes...

What I liked most about this concert was that it didn't try to overcomplicate the nostalgia. It was just a band coming out and playing the songs people remembered, and sometimes that's exactly what you want from a concert.

There's also something funny about seeing a band you listened to when you were younger. You go in expecting to feel nostalgic, but you don't necessarily expect to remember just how much these songs were part of your life.

The Calling's music was very much part of that early-2000s era for me—the emotional rock songs, the dramatic lyrics, the radio hits, the whole thing. So standing there years later, hearing Alex Band sing “Wherever You Will Go” with a crowd of people who clearly grew up with the same song was a pretty cool experience.

By the time I left, my ears were ringing and my voice was pretty much gone. Which, honestly, is usually a good sign. Walking out into the Manila night after a concert like this always gives me that little post-concert high. You know that feeling when you're exhausted, your ears are ringing, but you're still replaying the songs in your head?

That's probably my favorite part. Some songs really don't grow old. They just wait for the right night to hit you all over again.
